ゲンティン・シンガポール・リミテッドは6月27日、世界の優れたワインを選定し称える「ワイン・ピナクル・アワード」の創設を発表した。
ワイン・ピナクル・アワードは、世界各地のワイン専門家たちが全世界のベストワインに票を投じるノミネーションベースのワイン賞。原産地の制限がなく、また登録申請や参加費用も必要としないのも特徴。
受賞ワインは、10月10日から12日に開催を予定している「ワイン・ピナクル・アワード・ガラディナーならびに授賞式」と「グレート・ワイン＆ダイン・フェスティバル」で発表される。
ワインの評価選定を行うのは、ワイン専門家の5人で構成された「ワイン委員会」。委員会のメンバーは、香港のジーニー・チョー・リー氏、日本の大橋健一氏、米国のダグ・フロスト氏、英国のオズ・クラーク氏、スウェーデンのアンドレアス・ラルソン氏。
同委員会では、ノミネーションの仕組みと、審査員体制の構築を担う。また、ワインの品質と価値が確実に採点されるよう、ノミネーションのプロセスを監督する。
アワードの審査員は、Master of WineやMaster Sommelier、ワイン・オークショニエ（競売人）、高級レストランのソムリエなどから選ばれた80人以上のメンバーが務め、27つの部門にそれぞれふさわしいベストワインに票を投じる。
部門には「ベスト・ボルドー・ワイン（1996年以降）」や「ベスト・ブルゴーニュ・ホワイト（2008年以降）」、「ベスト・オーガニック／ナチュラル・ワイン・オブ・ザ・イヤー」、「ベスト・リーセント・リリース」、「ベスト・チャイニーズ・レッド」、「ベスト・ヤング・ワインメーカー・オブ・ザ・イヤー」、「ヒドゥン・トレジャー」などがある。
